ARLIE W. “JR” MITCHELL JR., 82, of Jasonville, IN passed away at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2019 in Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis, IN.

He was born May 24, 1937 in Jasonville, IN to Arlie W. “Smoke” Mitchell Sr. and Ruth (Hinkle) Mitchell.

Survivors include his life partner, Sarah Sparks of Jasonville, IN; children, Richard Arlie Mitchell of Greencastle, IN, Ruth Myers (Jon) of Greencastle, IN, Brenda Ann Mitchell of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Austin Mitchell, Hunter Mitchell, Kendra Bourque (Chris), Mitchell Myers (Diana), Courtney Myers, Oscar Mitchell, Brandon Mitchell, Elizabeth Mitchell, John Moody, Jessica Moody; great-grandchildren, Adela Bourque, Henry Myers; brothers, Max Dean Mitchell of Houston, TX, Dale Eugene Mitchell of Brighton, MI.

He was preceded in death by his parents; baby sister, Nancy Mitchell.

Arlie was a heating and cooling technician, and a union organizer. He was a member of Jasonville American Legion Post #172. Arlie enjoyed woodworking, going to flea markets, and he loved Hank Snow music.

Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation is scheduled Sunday, July 7, 2019 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services are Monday, July 8, 2019 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor David Smith officiating.

Interment will be at Antioch Cemetery in Rural Dugger, IN with Military Graveside Rites.
