BURIAL CREMATION
When you choose to bury your loved one (as opposed to cremating them), your mind may immediately go to the traditional burial that includes a public viewing, a funeral service, and perhaps even a graveside service as well.
However, here at Cox Funeral Home, we recognize that not every family and not every situation is exactly the same. Personal preferences, family dynamics, the circumstances surrounding the death, finances, and more can all affect the kind of burial you wish to give your loved one.
Overview of Burial Services
Before you can decide what type of services will work best for your family, you need to understand what is available. Here are the basic burial services from which you can choose:
- Immediate Burial
The burial of the deceased without any additional services.
- Public Visitation
A gathering of friends and family with the body of the deceased present (either in an open or a closed casket).
- Funeral Service
A service to say goodbye to the deceased and to celebrate their life with the body present.
- Memorial Service
A service to say goodbye to the deceased and to celebrate their life after the burial.
- Graveside Service
A service beside the grave to commit the deceased to their final resting place.
Personalization of Burial Services
Thanks to the many factors affecting the kind of burial families can or want to give their loved one, it is important that you be able to personalize the burial and the services surrounding it. That is why you have so many choices when it comes to bidding goodbye to the deceased.
For example, the location of public viewings and funeral services can include a church, a cemetery, a house, a funeral home, or some combination of locations (for example, you may have a funeral service at a church and a later memorial gathering at your home).
The service (or services) can also be personalized. The songs, eulogies, speeches, and decorations you have will depend on your personal preferences and on what you know your loved one may have wanted. Some families may include a video of happy memories or a recorded goodbye from the deceased. Others may choose simply to have eulogies. Some families may prefer a religious service, while others may want things to remain secular.
To that end, we provide a number of different types of burial services, and a number of different burial packages so you can choose the services that work best for you and your family.
