BARTON ERIC RICHARDSON, 81, formerly of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away at 2:34 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2018 in Owen Valley Health Campus, Spencer, IN.
He was born February 19, 1937 in Midland, IN to Wayland Davis Richardson and Ita Mereen (Greenwood) Richardson.
Survivors include his wife, Dixie D. (Greenwood) Richardson of Bloomington, IN who he married on August 25, 1987; children, Thomas E. Richardson (Deborah Stalford) of Berkley, CA, Michael A. Richardson (Joi) of Carmel, IN, Peter A. Richardson (Jennie) of Hercules, CA; grandchildren, Muriel Richardson, Leland Richardson, Audrey Richardson, Carolyn Richardson, Emma Richardson, Evelyn Richardson; step-children, Keith Kline (Martha) of Ellettsville, Craig Kline (Darla) of Linton, Melanie Darling (Michael) of Spencer; step-grandchildren, Kate Cazee, Lauren VanDyke, Lindsey Kline, Kyle Kline, Nathaniel Kline, Gracie Kline, Asa Kline, Skylar Darling, Michael Darling; 8 step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Thatcher Richardson.
Barton was an ISU graduate and earned his Master’s Degree from Purdue in 1964. He was a teacher of math and science for more than 30 years in the Indianapolis inner city schools—Howe, Crispus-Attucks, Forest Manor, Shortridge, Arlington, also Ivy Tech Community College and retired from Manual High School in 1992. He was a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association and was involved with ROTC training in College. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation is scheduled from 11 to 1 Friday at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services will immediately follow visitation at 1 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2018 at the Cox Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Rotman officiating.
Interment will be at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland, IN.
