BESSIE E. MONEY, 90, of Hymera, IN, peacefully passed away at 3:03 a.m. Sunday, May 3, 2026 in her home surrounded by her family.
She was born May 26, 1935 in Bartholomew County, IN to Garland Fox and Erma E. (Opal) Fox.
Bessie married Raymond Elwsworth Money, the father of their children, they later divorced. Bessie later met Monroe “Monk” Quillen, the love of her life. They spent 34 years together until he passed away December 18th, 2018. All the grandchildren and great-grandchildren considered Monk their PaPaw.
Survivors include her children, Debra Alumbaugh of Hymera, IN, Sherrie Bickel of Jasonville, IN, Ray Money (Angie) of Kendlerville, IN, Tudi Money of Hymera, IN, Fred Money (Deanna) of Angola, IN; daughter in-law, Sherrie Money of Sullivan, IN; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Jacob Fox of Washington and Ray Fox of Tennessee; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Monk; 2 daughters, Sandra K ( Money) Fisher and Starr Lynn (Money) Chapman; son, Garland E. Money; 3 sisters, Wilma Jones, Betty Groves and Leota Coray; and brothers, William Phillips Fox and Lester Fox.
Bessie graduated North Vernon High School in the class of 1954. She worked many years ago for the Keller Chair Factory and later in housekeeping for a nursing care facility. She worked puzzles, word searches and read to keep her mind active while being a homemaker as her children grew up.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at the Funeral Home with Services immediately following at 6 p.m. with Pastor Mike Rotman officiating.
In keeping with Bessie’s wishes, cremation was chosen and graveside services will be at a later date.
Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in North Vernon, IN.
