JOHN R. BURRIS, 91, of Lyons and formerly of Jasonville, Indiana passed away at 6:27 p.m. Monday, September 21, 2015 in Glenburn Home, Linton, IN.

He was born October 11, 1923 in Jasonville, IN to John Albert Burris and Ina Ethel (Reed) Burris.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Tharen B. (Shacklett) Burris of Lyons, IN whom he married on September 28, 1947; daughter, Kathy Rogers of Lyons, IN; granddaughter, Kristen & Jeremy Burkett of Terre Haute, IN; brother & sister-in-law, Bill & Carmen Burris of Fort Branch, IN; sister-in-law, Wanda McBride of Jasonville, IN; many nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Virginia Zimmerman, Geneva Hayden, Ruth Marble, Betty Trowbridge, Mary Fries, Bonnie Stainbrooke.

John retired from Pfizer Inc. where he worked in the Maintenance Dept. He attended the Jasonville Assembly of God Church and Cornerstone Church in Switz City. John was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran. He fought at the Battle of the Bulge in Germany.

Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation was scheduled from Noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services immediately followed visitation on Friday, September 25, 2015 at the Cox Funeral Home with Pastor Gregg Orman and Pastor Sam Bush officiating.

Interment was at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland, IN with Military Graveside Rites.
