CHARLES (CHUCK) HARRISON HOARD passed away at Serenity Spring Senior living Center in Jasonville on Monday,
May 4, 2026. He was born in Linton on March 6, 1949 to Thomas Archie and Florene (Long) Hoard.
Chuck was a well-known, lifelong resident of Jasonville. He attended the Assembly of God church and Jasonville school. Around 18 years of age, he began making pallets for Stark Industrial in Sullivan. After work and on weekends, he had his own lawn service. He took pride in his work, and his clients were pleased with his effort. He worked both jobs for many years.
Chuck was often seen riding his bicycle around town, by himself or with his brother Tommy. But what he really loved was cruising on his moped, chatting with people, watching little league games, and just enjoying life. Cooking for himself and his brother was another joy for him, with fried chicken being a favorite.
Other enjoyments were the many dogs he had over the years, fishing, watching his favorite shows (Gun Smoke and Andy Griffith), as well as building model cars.
Chuck is survived by his sister, Patti I. (James) Ramey; his brother, Thomas J. Hoard, and nieces and nephews, Donald L. Padgett Jr., Tammy A. Fulton (Richard), Tim D. Wogoman Jr. (Debbie), David W. Padgett, and Lisa A. Padgett.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents; his sisters, Emily J. Padgett and Sonija K. Ward; half-sisters Helen L. Moss and Gladys M. Cunningham, and his nephew Robert E. Steed.
Funeral service will be held at Cox Funeral Home in Jasonville, with Pastor Samuel Bush officiating, on Friday, May 8, 2026 at 1:00 PM with viewing from 11:00 AM until time of service. Burial will follow at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland, IN., with committal by Pastor Daryl Sluder.
