DONALD “DON” R. MOWERY, 87, of Linton, IN went home to be with the Lord at 2:20 am Sunday, September 6, 2026 at home surrounded by his loving family
He was born November 25, 1938 in Jasonville, IN to Clarence Mowery and Mary (Moulden) Mowery.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Jean (Zuder) Mowery of Linton, IN who he married on August 31, 1957; children, Chris Mowery of Chesapeake, VA, Darsi Mowery of Linton, IN, Corbi Steele (Rodney Cullison) of Dugger, IN; grandchildren, Cassie Ross (Michael), Dalton Steele (Crystyn), Christopher Mowery, Caroline Mowery (Ryan Dickason); great-grandchildren, Gavin Ross, Camryn Ross, Braxtyn Ross, Presley Steele, Aiden Ross, Gentry Steele; brother, Jerry Mowery (Margaret) of Linton, IN; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bob Mowery and Bill Mowery; sister, Helen Keller.
Don graduated from Midland High School. He worked for Peabody Coal Company until he retired. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking. He was a member of UMWA, IWCS, Charter Member of Tuesday Night Cookie Club at Pats Auto Emporium of Vicksburg, IN.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at the Funeral Home. Services are immediately following at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jerry Ross officiating.
Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Linton, IN.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Don Mowery to Blessed Hope Baptist Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
