DONALD L. KRAMER, 96, of Lewis, IN passed away at 1:47 p.m. Thursday, September 11, 2025 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, IN.

He was born December 6, 1928 in Jasonville, IN to Albert Kramer and Violet (Ellis) Kramer.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Frederica (Klusmeier) Kramer of Lewis, IN who he married on June 8, 1958; son, Jeffrey A. Kramer of Indianapolis, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Laura Lynn Kramer – 10/06/2021; brothers, Morris Kramer and David Kramer.

Don graduated from Coalmont High School. Bachelor of Science Degree, Purdue University, 1950, Agribusiness Education (Vocational). Master of Science Degree, Purdue University, 1963, Agriculture Engineering and School Administration. Lincoln Welding School – Short Course. Five Summers, Travel Study Abroad, He spent 3 months in India studying their farming. Indiana State University, 1968 – 1978; Assistant Director, 1976. Teacher, vocational Agribusiness & Science, Metropoliton School District of Shakamak, Jasonville, IN. 1974 – 1991. Principal, Metropolitan School District of Shakamak, Jasonville, IN. 1967 – 1974. Teacher, Vocational Agribusiness, Chemistry and Science, Coalmont High School and M.S.D. Shakamak, Jasonville, IN. 1955 – 1967. 1950 to present, Owner-Operator – Kramer Farms, 800 acres-grain farm. Machinery Shop-Contract overhauls for Amish community in Davies County, Indiana and local farmers in area. Don was a licensed pilot. Honors-Clay County Outstanding Young Farmer Award – Kiwanis Club, Brazil, Indiana. 1953. Purdue Agriculture Hall of Fame (Distinguished Purdue Ag). Member of Academic Honor Societies – Alpha Zeta (Agriculture), Ceres, and Kappa Delta Pi (Education), Purdue Distinguished Student. He was a member of American Vocational Association, National Education Association, Indiana State Teacher Association, Indiana Purdue Agriculture Alumni Association, Life Member. He was a Cooperative Extension Service – 4-H leader for 18 years, Future Farmers of America – Adviser for 39 years, (average student membership – 75 – 100); 1990-1991 – 77 students. Clay County Improvement Advisory Committee, 1979 – Present, Agriculture Advisory Director – Bloomfield State Bank, 1984 – 1987. Judge – County Fairs (8 counties), 1975 – 1991. School Floats, Jasonville Homecoming – 1975 – 1991. Don was a U.S. Army Veteran and served as a First Lieutenant in the Korean War, 1950 – 1952. Served in Army Reserves with a Military Police Unit, 1975 – 1991. Don was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Linton and had served on the Deacon Board. He had worked in Farming, Teaching and Administration. He was a member of Jasonville American Legion Post# 172, past member of the Jasonville VFW, member of Jasonville Masonic Lodge# 530 F&AM 32nd degree, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute. Don was a devoted husband and father and loved his family dearly. He will be greatly missed.

Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at the Funeral Home. Services are immediately following at 2 p.m. with Pastor David Smith officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Linton, IN with Military Graveside Rites.
