DONALD WAYNE PILANT, 83, of Lewis, Indiana passed away 7:00 a.m. Monday, January 18, 2010 in Regional Hospital, Terre Haute, IN. He was born September 4, 1926 in Vigo County, IN to  John Pilant and Myrtle (Downs) Pilant. He was married on January 26, 1947 to Carrie Lee (Mullens) Pilant and she preceded him in death on December 3, 2007.

Survivors include daughter & son-in-law, Rita & Jeff Sisk of Lewis, IN; son & daughter-in-law, Virgil & Yvonne Pilant of Lewis, IN; daughter-in-law, Patty Pilant of Farmersburg, IN; sister, Betty Lambermont of Greencastle, IN; brother, Raymond & Mona Pilant of Crown Point, IN;  grandchildren, Michelle & Brian Curry, Marci & Jeff Holley, Brad Pilant, Jennifer & Terry Burns, Cindy Pilant, Greg & Dara Pilant, Jessica Keller, Amy & Cameron Dickson & Jason and Kristi Mills; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Julia Pilant and Dorothy Pilant both of Jasonville, IN and Norma Bemis of Coalmont, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carrie Lee Pilant; son, Walter Pilant; great-grandson, Chance Hadley; brothers, John Pilant and David Pilant.

He had worked at Quaker Maid and General Housewares in Maintenance, graduated from Coalmont High School in 1944, was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1945, was an avid reader, enjoyed mushroom hunting, farming, and liked to travel and camp.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Cox Funeral Home, 218 South Meridian Street in Jasonville, IN. Visitation was 4-9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. until service time Friday. Funeral Services were 1 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2010 all at the funeral home with Pastor David Smith officiating. Interment was in Friendly Grove Cemetery, Lewis, IN.
