DONNIE GENE WEST SR., 90, of McCordsville, IN passed away at 9:57 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2026 in IU North in Carmel, IN.
He was born January 26, 1936 in Jasonville, IN. to Ira West and Joy (Puckett) West.
Donnie married Sharon M. (Mitchell) West on May 20, 1961, she passed away on September 29, 2022.
Survivors include his children, Shelly Buchanan (Victor) of Liberty, MO, Donnie G. West Jr. (Wendi) of Tipton, IN, Douglas West (Maria) of Fortville, IN; grandchildren, Breeanna Buchanan, Dallas Buchanan (Somara), Erika Santana (Eric), Audra Heron (Spencer), Micayla Miller (Griffin), Cameron West (Lisa), Mitchell West (Ruth), Hunter West, Cheyenne Parks (Shawn); 13 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings.
Donnie worked as a machinist at Schwitzer for 19 years and at Naval Avionics for over 18 years. He retired in 1999. He was an Air Force Reservist from 1954 to 1962.
Donnie enjoyed spending time with family, hunting and raising quail and feeder calves. He attended Shadeland Baptist Church.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation is scheduled from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00, Friday April 10, 2026 with service time 12:00 noon at Cox Funeral Home with Kenny Scott officiating.
Interment will be at Sanders Cemetery in Lewis, IN.
