DORTHY A. (JOHNSON) ZIMMERMAN, 86, of Jasonville, IN passed away at 7 P.M. Sunday, January 2, 2022 in Shakamak Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Jasonville, IN.
She was born December 15, 1935 in Indianapolis, IN to William R. McClure and Eystral (Payne) McClure..
Survivors include her husband, Ronald Zimmerman of Jasonville, IN; children, Patricia Danford (Michael) of Fortville, IN, Linda Richardson of Fortville, IN, Peggy Phillips (Tom) of East Moline, IL ; 11-grandchildren; 30-great-grandchildren; 5-great-great-grandchildren siblings, William R. McClure Jr., of Indianapolis, IN,Norma Jean Rucker of Greenfield, IN, Georgeann Nicholson of Indianapolis, IN; 17 – nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Wallace M. Johnson; sons, Wallace W. Johnson, David Lee Johnson, Joseph Johnson; sister, Ella Abbott; grandson, Phillip W. Johnson.
Dorthy worked at Kmart for several years. She enjoyed crafts and painting. She was very active in church playing the piano and organ as well as teaching Sunday school. Dorthy was asked to sing many times at church. Dorthy was a member of Anchored in Faith Church and later Heart of His Glory Church.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Graveside Services are 1 P.M. Friday, January 7, 2022 at Lincoln Memory Gardens Cemetery. 6851 South Indianapolis Road, Whitestown, IN 47075 with Pastor Larry Waters officiating.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Dorthy to help with Nursing Home expenses.
