CHARLES RAY ENGLISH, 83, of Jasonville, Indiana went to Heaven to be with Jesus, at 11:50 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016 in Shakamak Good Samaritan Center in Jasonville.

He was born October 17, 1932 in Greene County, IN to Bud and Tressa (McDonald) English.

Charles married his first wife, Wilma “Ruth” Zuder English on April 25, 1952 and she passed away on July 29, 2009.

Survivors include his second wife, Donna Jean (Ogle) Ross English of Jasonville whom he married on October 21, 2011; his children, Sheilla and Frank Mumma, Sheryl and Jim Swaby both of Jasonville, Bill and Karla English of Dugger; step-children, Lori and Chuck Williford of Linton, Bob and Kim Ross, Pastor Jerry and Sheryl Ross, David and Jessica Ross all of Jasonville; grandchildren, Scott, Kristopher, Stephanie, Dan, Valerie, Rebekah, Elizabeth, Abigail and Katelyn; 12 step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren with one due in October; 27 step-great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Jack Sluder of Coalmont; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Ruth English; infant daughter, Phyllis Marie English; grandson, Richard D. Mumma; brother, Donald English; sisters, Kathleen Stephens and Anita Swaby.

Charles was a 1950 graduate of Midland High School. He was a charter member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church where he was a faithful deacon, church treasurer and Sunday school teacher for many years. He was instrumental in the founding of the church and was a Godly example to many over the years. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Charles was a retired electrician from Peabody Coal Company and was a member of the UMWA.

Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation was scheduled at the Blessed Hope Baptist Church in Jasonville from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Thursday. Funeral Services were 11 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2016 at the church with Pastor Jerry Ross officiating.

Charles was laid to rest in the Peavey Cemetery in Howesville, IN.
