ESTELLA RUTH ZOOK of Portland, Oregon went to be with the Lord at 90 years of age on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at her residence.
She was born September 13, 1927 in Sullivan County, Indiana to Floyd French and Mary Ann (Benfield) French one of six children.
She graduated from Hymera High School in 1945. Those were difficult years for her family and many other rural Americans due to the depression and WWII. While attending a jeweler’s trade school in Illinois she met Robert K. Zook. They were married on September 15, 1946 in Lincoln, NE. They made their home in Aurora, CO. Robert passed away in 2001. She moved from Aurora, CO her home of 50 years, to Milwaukie, OR to be close to family in 1997.
Estella loved her family. She is survived by her son, Gary B. Zook (Billie) of Portland, OR; daughter, Sandra S. (Zook) Riggins (Gary) of Chandler, OK; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 sisters; 3 brothers.
She was a member of Toastmasters and she served as a precinct captain for the Republican Party for many years in Colorado and Oregon. She was a member of Gladstone Baptist Church.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Cremation was chosen and graveside memorial services will be held at Noon Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the K of P Cemetery in Hymera, IN with Pastor Dan French officiating.
