JOHN P. FIELD, 81, of Coalmont, Indiana passed away at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2011 in Regional Hospital Terre Haute, IN.

He was born February 24, 1930 in Coalmont, IN to Henry Field and Velora “Tillie” (Cushman) Field.

Survivors include his spouse, Donna Jean (Buell) Field of Coalmont whom he married on October 29, 1955; daughters & sons-in-law, Marci & David Joseph of Fairbanks, AK, Valli & Les Thomas of Indianapolis, IN; sons, Phillip Field of Greenwood, IN, Chris Field of Coalmont, IN; grandchildren, Zach Joseph, Betsy & A.J. Joseph Capellan, Jake & Marissa Thomas, John & Nicole Thomas; great grandchildren, Gabe, Jeremy, Angela, John Vincent; sister, Mary Field Chamberlain of Clay City, IN; brothers & sisters-in-law, James D. & Sheryll Field of Connersville, IN, Roy “Pud” & Nancy Field of Coalmont, IN; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Charlotte Field Lamb, Beryl Field, Marjorie Christy, Virginia Manning; brothers, Harold “Oke” Field, Charles Field, Robert “Cotton” Field.

John was a previous resident of Connersville, Dayton Ohio and Indianapolis. He retired from General Motors-Allison Plant in Indianapolis, IN. He was a member of Friendly Grove Baptist Church. He loved his family and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran.

Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana with Visitation scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and Noon until service time Tuesday at the Friendly Grove Baptist Church; 10520 S. Co. Rd. 550 W; Lewis, IN 47858. Funeral Services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at the Church with Pastor David Joseph and Pastor Jason Hill officiating. The service was interpreted for the deaf.

Interment was at Sanders Cemetery in rural Jasonville with Military Graveside Rites.
