MAMIE K. FOWLER, 91, of South Bend and formerly of Jasonville, IN passed away at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, December 24, 2013 in her residence.
Mamie married Cecil W. Fowler in June 1946 and he passed away August 5, 2006.
She was born May 31, 1922 in Jasonville, IN to Henderson Byarley and Dorothy (Ferguson) Byarley.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen C. Fenner of South Bend, IN; sons & daughter-in-law, Cecil W. & Janet Fowler, Jr. of Canton, MI, Kevin R. Fowler of Big Rapids, MI; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Morley and Sue Stark both of Jasonville, IN.
She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, William, Phillip, and Robert Byarley; sisters, Shirley Ann Byarley, Josephine Huff.
Mamie enjoyed reading, collecting dolls, being with family, and fostering babies in Michigan and Indiana.
South Bend arrangements were handled by Hanley & Sons, Southwest Chapel Funeral Home. Local arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana with Visitation scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services were 11 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Cox Funeral Home with Pastor Sam Bush officiating.
Interment was at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland, IN.
Contributions were made in memory of Mamie to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc.; 111 Sunnybrook Court; South Bend, IN 46637. Envelopes were available at the funeral home.
