JAMES L. FRANKLIN, 67, of Jasonville, Indiana passed away at 11:20 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2011 in Shakamak Good Samaritan Nursing Center, Jasonville, IN.  He was born October 18, 1943 in Linton, IN to James L. Franklin and Virginia (Moss) Franklin.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Franklin of Mt. Vernon, IL; daughters & son-in-law, Jamie & Billy Simpson of Jasonville and Jannell Franklin & Joan Duncan of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, James & spouse, Brittney Simpson, Bethany Simpson, Casey, Abby and Emma Bowmer, Darion and Noah Wilson; great-grandson, Bryceton Simpson; sister, Leah Kessinger of DeMotte, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Julie Franklin Wilson.

James was of the Baptist Faith, was a retired coalminer and a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was a life-time member of the Jasonville V.F.W. Post #6225, member of the American Legion Post #172, U.M.W.A. Local 1423, and was the first National President of Compac. He loved playing music with his friends, loved wood-crafts and wood-working. James was very proud of his Grandkids and loved spoiling them.

Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana with Visitation scheduled 5-9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services were 2 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2011 at the Cox Funeral Home with Pastor Sam Bush officiating.

Interment was at Fairview Cemetery in Linton, IN with Military Graveside Rites.
