FRED W. BENNETT, 93, of Jasonville, Indiana passed away 7:00 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2010 at home with family in Jasonville. He was born March 31, 1917 in Jasonville to Fred W. Bennett and Mary Jane (Critchlow) Bennett.  He was married to Ella Annabelle (Kester) Bennett on January 10, 1964 and she preceded him in death on August 4, 2009.

Survivors include adopted son, Bradley J. Duncan & Fiance’ Andrea Pierce of Jasonville; cousins, Lucille Turner of Terre Haute, Nelda Bobbie Nelson of Carmel, Dorothy Lovell of Florida, William Daugherty of Anderson, Dr. Forest of Columbus, Robert Forrester of Lafayette, GA, Leah Dissley of GA, Janice Bennett of AZ, Judy Schroetter of Willow Springs, MO. Jackie Grarey of Clayton, NM, Sandy Baxter of Jasonville, Lynda Grissom of Coalmont; special friends, Dylan Bilyeu, James Alexander, Kaylynn Alexander, Bonnie Harrell, and Andrew Duncan all of Jasonville. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ella Annabelle Bennett and brother, Thomas Richard Bennett.

Fred owned & operated Gambles with his wife Annabelle for 65 years. Graduated from Jasonville High School, served as an Army Veteran in WWII under General Patton’s Army in Germany, was a lifelong member of the Jasonville First Baptist Church, Jasonville American Legion Post #172, Jasonville VFW Post #6225, Shakamak Area Chamber of Commerce where he was a past president, former member of Jasonville Water Board, and former member of the Shakamak Good Samaritan Nursing Center.

Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home, 218 South Meridian Street, Jasonville, IN. Visitation was 6-9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral Services were 2 p.m. Wednesday May 5, 2010 with Pastor Kenneth Coffman officiating. Interment was in Lebanon Cemetery, Midland, IN with military graveside rites.
