DEREK MATTHEW FULFORD, 32, of Jasonville, Indiana passed away at 6:23 p.m. Monday, September 1, 2014 at his residence.

He was born June 29, 1982 in Terre Haute, IN to Wayne E. Fulford and Peggy (Burkett) Fulford-Johnson.

Survivors include his sons, Brevon Fulford and Colin Fulford both of Jasonville; daughter, Malaia Fulford of Jasonville; mother, Peggy Fulford-Johnson & Richard of Jasonville; father, Wayne Fulford & Suzanne of Jasonville; sister, Misty Lambermont of Jasonville; brothers & sister-in-law, Troy & Lori Fulford of Jasonville, Christopher Fulford of Jasonville; maternal grandmother, Cynthia Slater of Jasonville; paternal grandmother, Norma Fulford of Jasonville; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; mother of his children, Jessica Rehmel of Jasonville; step-sister & husband, Krysten & Josh McDaniel of Terre Haute; half-brother, Brad Wagler of Odon; special friend, Gentry Sapp.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfathers, Jack Slater and Bill Burkett; paternal grandfather, Robert E. Fulford.

Derek was a Shakamak High School Graduate Class of 2001. He worked at Landry Coal Mine. He was a die-hard Cubs Fan and enjoyed playing softball, fishing, golf, arrowhead hunting and family cook-outs. Derek loved fishing with his kids and family.

Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation was scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2014 at the funeral home. Funeral Services immediately followed at 8 p.m. with Pastor Mark Messmer officiating.

Cremation followed.

In lieu of flowers donations were made to the Shakamak Youth League. Envelopes were available at the funeral home.
