MARVIN L. “SONNY” GARRETT, 82, of Lewis, Indiana passed away at 10:06 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2017 in Regional Hospital, Terre Haute, IN.
He was born December 14, 1934 in Dale, Arkansas to Eardie Garrett and Catherine (Johnson) Garrett.
Sonny married Doris (Cullison) Garrett on June 25, 1960 and she passed away on December 10, 2007.
Survivors include his daughter, Susan Waterman of Fairbanks, IN; sons, James Garrett of Portland, OR, Randy Garrett of Peru, IN; grandchildren, Craig Waterman, Michelle Garrett, Randy Garrett, Miranda Jones.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Elizabeth Bedwell.
Sonny was a Jasonville High School Graduate Class of 1953. He was a 35 year member of the Jasonville Church of God. He worked 53 years at Shakamak IGA, working in every area of the store from being a Department Manager to delivering groceries to the elderly at their homes. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, IN; coxfuneralhomejasonville.com. Visitation was scheduled from 11:00 to 1:30 Saturday at the Jasonville Church of God; South Horace Street. Funeral Services immediately followed visitation at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the church with Pastor Jonathan Heard officiating.
Interment was at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland, IN.
