MARY ALICE (POINTER) GRIFFITH, 99, of Jasonville, Indiana passed away at 3:50 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2011 in Shakamak Good Samaritan Nursing Center, Jasonville, IN. She was born January 6, 1912 in Hymera, IN to Wert Andrew Pointer and Lola Phenton (Hughbanks) Pointer. Mary married Fred Griffith on March 20, 1943 and he had preceded her in death.

Survivors include brother, Wert A. & Bonnie Pointer; nieces and spouses, Lee Ann & Joe Wise, Cheryl Faught, Sheila Wilder, Kathy & Greg Shaw; Kay & Jerry Marlow, Gail & Allen Slankard and Mahala Griffith; nephews and spouses, Andrew & Laura Pointer; David & Mari Pointer and Terry & Judy Griffith; several great-nieces & nephews and great-great nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wert Andrew Pointer on September 6, 1937; mother, Lola Pointer in 1968; husband, Fred Griffith August 20, 1964; brothers, Walter Lee Pointer on January 19, 1993, Calvin Pointer on September 5, 1967 and James Pointer on October 3, 1926; sisters-in-law, Myra (McPhail) Pointer, Audrey (Armpriester) Pointer, Norma Katherine (Pointer) Kurshal, and Augusta (Griffith) Miller.

Mary had worked for Bendix in South Bend for 35 years, had worked at the Shakamak State Park, and had also done restaurant and sewing factory work. She was a member of the Shakamak Community Church. Her love was her family and friends and caring for others.

Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana with Visitation scheduled from 5-9 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services were 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at the Cox Funeral Home with Pastor Chris McKinney officiating.

Interment was at K of P Cemetery in Hymera, IN.
