MERRICK “RICK” T. HERAKOVICH, 67, of Jasonville, Indiana passed away at 1:40 p.m. Saturday, November 29, 2014 in his home.
He was born May 3, 1947 in East Chicago, IN to George Herakovich, Jr. & Sophie (Danko) Herakovich.
Survivors include his wife, Robin Lynn (Thomas) Herakovich of Jasonville, IN whom he married on May 3, 1997; sons, Matthew Herakovich & Erica of Chicago, IL, Peter Tsouchlos of Dugger, IN; mother-in-law & father-in-law, Alberta & Robert Thomas of Jasonville, IN; brother-in-law, Jerry Wolfe of Ostrander, MN; sister-in-law, Nancy Herakovich of Valparaiso, IN; nephews & nieces, David Herakovich, Paul Herakovich, Ashley & Jeff Schmakel,Tanner & Callie Wolfe; great niece, Heather Herakovich; great nephews, Ryland Schmakel, Devan Schmakel; aunts, Phyllis English of Terre Haute, IN, Marcia Reese & John Crowe of Jasonville, IN; special friends, Brad & Andrea Duncan along with many others.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George Herakovich.
Rick was a 1965 graduate of Griffith High School in Griffith, IN, and he attended Purdue University, Calumet Campus. He retired from Millwrights’ Local #1076. He also worked at Alcan Aluminum in Terre Haute, IN. Rick attended Lawton Street Christian Church where he was a member. He was an avid motorcyclist and a member of the VFW Post #962 in Terre Haute, IN. Rick was a Vietnam Veteran with the U.S. Navy.
Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana with visitation scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services were 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the Cox Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Messmer officiating.
Interment was at Walker Cemetery in Worthington, IN with Military Graveside Rites.
Contributions were made in memory of Rick Herakovich to God’s Safe Haven. Envelopes were available at the funeral home.
