JAMES E. “JIM” GADBERRY, 59, of Jasonville, IN passed away at 3:43 a.m. Thursday, September 25, 2025 in Greene County General Hospital in Linton, IN.
He was born August 29, 1966 in Linton, IN to James F. “Jack” Gadberry and Linda (Carrell) Gadberry.
Survivors include his children, Joie Kaiser (Koye) of Linton, IN, Kaleb Gadberry (Natalie Miller) of Jasonville, IN, Haley Shai Sanders (Devin) of Indianapolis, IN, Mason Dean of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Jack Kaiser, Camryn Kaiser, Adeline Sanders, Graham Sanders; mother, Linda Gadberry of Jasonville, IN; brother, David Gadberry (Kristie Probst) of Savage, MN; fiance, Frankie Enochs of Jasonville, IN; nephew, Nathan Gadberry; niece, Kiera Gadberry; his beloved dogs, Max, Oliver, Kylie and Rukus.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Jim graduated from Shakamak High School Class of 1984. He worked at Sony DADC for 10 years before becoming a reserve office for the Jasonville Police Department in February of 1996. Jim graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 1998. He began working as a full-time officer in October 1997 for JPD. During that time, he served as a K9 handler with his partner, Boo, from 2003 to 2007. He served as Assistant Chief from 2006 to 2014 and Chief until he retired in August 2019. He worked for the Southwest School Corporation from 2022 to 2023 and most recently served as a School Resource Officer for Linton-Stockton School Corporation. Jim was a member of the F.O.P. and served on the Shakamak School Board. He enjoyed spoiling his grandbabies, traveling the world, and serving his community. Jim was passionate about his work as a police officer and often stated, “I get paid to give high-fives and hugs.”
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. A Celebration of Life is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at the Shakamak High School Gymnasium, 9233 Shakamak Rd., Jasonville, IN 47438. A Private Family Service will be held at Cox Funeral Home at a later date with Pastor Mark Messmer officiating.
Interment will be at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland, IN.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Jim to provide for Memorial Bench’s at Shakamak and Linton-Stockton Elementary Schools. Envelopes will be available at the Celebration of Life.
