JAMES ROY GARDNER, 81, of Worthington, IN passed away at 10:20 A.M. Monday September 13, 2021 in Greene County General Hospital in Linton, IN.

He was born January 8, 1940 in Jasonville, IN to Roy Edward Gardner and Emma Lorene (Reed) Gardner.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Helen Louise Gardner of Worthington, IN whom he married on October 17, 1959; children, Denise R. Ingle (Rick) of Worthington, IN, James T. Gardner (Kim) of Coal City, IN, Roy E. Gardner (Joyce) of Worthington, IN; grandchildren – 12; great-grandchildren – 27; sisters, Sharon Reece (Roy) of Worthington, IN, Phyllis Jacob of Jasonville, IN; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

James graduated from Jasonville High School Class of 1958. He worked at G.E. in Linton until he retired. He was a member of Wilson General Baptist Church. James enjoyed going fishing when he was younger, he had worked as a farm hand as a young man as well. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and liked to travel on it. He was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan. James loved his family and enjoyed spending time with the grandkids.

Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation is scheduled from 11 A.M. to 2 P.M. Friday September 17, 2021 at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services are immediately following at 2 P.M. with Pastor James Phipps officiating.

Interment will be at Peavey Cemetery in Howesville, IN.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of James to National Parkinson Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
