JOHN A. CORBIN, 75, of Jasonville, IN passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 17, 2025 in his daughters home in Vicksburg, IN surround by his family.
He was born July 6, 1949 in Greene County, IN to Robert “Gus” Corbin and Ailsa (Goldie) Corbin.
John lived a life filled with dedication, creativity, and heart. He was married to Alma (Herrod) Corbin, and together they raised three children, Ginny Orman (Anthony) of Vicksburg, IN, Christopher Corbin of Vicksburg, IN, Alexandra Barton (Kyle) of Vicksburg, IN; grandchildren, JayCee Corbin, Cole Orman, Clay Orman, Makayla Corbin, Emaley Corbin, Gavin Corbin, Veda Barton, Henrietta Corbin-Mattox, Ezekiel Barton, Maxwell Barton, Alex Pack (Amanda); great-grandchildren, Rowan Corbin, Mia Pack, Isabella Pack, Austin Pack; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mima Haseman; brothers, Hugh Corbin, George Corbin, Daniel “Danny” Corbin.
John graduated from Shakamak High School. He served and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force before working in the machine shop at Crane Naval Base, where he dedicated nearly 5 decades of service—49 1/2 years. He was also known by many for running French’s Roller Rink for over 10 years, creating lasting memories for generations of local families.
John had a love for magic, and delighted in sharing tricks and laughter with children and adults alike, wherever he went.
He was a passionate car enthusiast and a regular at classic car shows. He especially loved attending the Frog Follies each year with his friend Bill McCracken along with other friends. Taking his cherished 1937 Plymouth Pickup, affectionately nicknamed “Cheap Trick”.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to ViaQuest Hospice, and especially to his nurse Melissa, for their compassion, care and support during John’s final days.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. In keeping with John’s wishes, cremation is scheduled. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be announced.
