WILLIAM O. “BILL” KNIGHT, 93, of Hymera, Indiana passed away at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2012 in his residence.
He was born January 16, 1919 in Lewis, IN to Bert Knight & Sarah Jane (Phipps) Knight.
Survivors include his spouse of 65 years, Doris L. (Foreman) Knight of Hymera, IN whom he married on March 31, 1946; son & daughter-in-law, Billy J. & Judy Knight of Bennington, Vermont; granddaughter, Whitney Knight; great-grandchildren, Tristan, Tanner, and Carson Hankins; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Decker Knight; siblings, Louise Smith, Roxie Driscoll, Dorothy Bigga, Clara Lutes, Mabel Keller, James Knight, John Knight, Josephine Bryant.
Bill graduated from Coalmont High School. He retired from Ethyl Visqueen of Terre Haute after 35 years. He was a lifetime member of the Clay City V.F.W. Bill loved hunting with his beagles, fishing with his wife, Doris and was a big I.U. fan. He was an Army Veteran of WWII where he served all through Europe-Normandy-France.
Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation was scheduled from Noon to 2:00 p.m. Saturday. Funeral Services followed at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the Cox Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Knight and Rev. Curtis Mitchell officiating.
Interment was at K of P Cemetery in Hymera, IN with Military Graveside Rites.
In lieu of flowers the family requested that memorial contributions be made to Vista Care Hospice.
