MARGARET R. “PEGGY” (SECREST) PENTLAND, 84, of Mt. Carmel, IL formerly of Jasonville, IN passed away at 8:03 p.m. CST Friday, August 21, 2026 in Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Carmel, IL.
She was born October 12, 1941 in Linton, IN to Auddie Secrest and Sarah Jane (Schoonover) Secrest.
Peggy married Richard D. “Rick” Pentland on June 9, 1969, he passed away on April 29, 2019.
Survivors include her children, Jerry Manuel (Dawn) of Mt. Carmel, IL, Dean Row (Jimmy) of Brazil, IN, Rachel Pennington of Brazil, IN. Bill Manuel (Cindy) of Noble, IL; 11 – grandchildren; 16 – great-grandchildren; 1 – great-great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Secrest of Old Town, FL, sisters, Carolyn Bilyeu of Avon, IN, Henrietta Wisnette (David) of Gastonia, SC; many nieces and nephews and her special dog Maggie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Andy Secrest, sister, Sarah Secrest; brother in-law Phillip Bilyeu.
Peggy had worked for Griffin and Charles Industries as well as All-Amatic. She enjoyed doing word searches and reading. She loved her family and spending time with them.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. IN keeping with Peggy’s wishes, cremation is scheduled, a visitation is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at the Funeral Home. A graveside service will be scheduled at a later date at Claiborne Cemetery near Dugger, IN.
