MARGIE L. (GAMMEL) FRENCH, 86, of Hymera, IN passed away at 9:35 A.M. Tuesday, February 23, 2021 in Millers Merry Manor in Sullivan, IN.

She was born June 13, 1934 in Helena, Arkansas to Jessey N. Gammel and Noma L. (Smith) Gammel. She moved to Indiana in 1941.

Survivors include her children, Steve French (Patricia) of Jasonville, IN, Michael French of Jasonville, IN, Kenneth French (Nance) of Linton, IN; grandchildren, Scott French, Connor French, Jace French, Clayton French, Daniel Stephens, Jessica Stanton, Brooke French, Erin Russell; great-grandchildren, Easton Russell, Clark Stanton, Jaxson Taylor, Maddox Gabbard, Jaelyn Russell, Gigi Russell, Claire Stanton, Lanie French, Briella Gabbard; brother in-law, James Sapp of Terre Haute, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Dorothy Sapp; niece, Nancy Sapp; foster mother, Irene Shidler.

Margie graduated Hymera High School. She also graduated Smart Appearance College of Cosmetology in Terre Haute. Margie enjoyed her time in school band and choir, singing in the church choir and with the Jasonville Triads. She worked at Columbia Records for 10 years and Frenches Roller Rink for 11 years. She worked part time with her dear friend Edith Keller Duzan in her accounting office and a few years part time for Jasonville Gas and Water office. She was Chaplain for Hymera American Legion Auxiliary Post# 298 for more than 10 years and she loved playing Euchre with friends. She also worked at Dr. Carl Porters office for several months. Margie loved watching her boys play sports, from PeeWee baseball all thru high school sports. She attended Bethel United Methodist Church in Hymera for several years and was currently attending Hymera Independent Community Church.

Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 8 P.M. Saturday at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services are 8 P.M. Saturday, February 27, 2021 with Pastor Norman Santus officiating.

Private Family Interment will be at K of P Cemetery in Hymera, IN.
