WILLIAM S. “BILL” MATTOX, 82, of Jasonville, Indiana passed away at 5:18 p.m. Saturday, October 14, 2017 while surrounded by his family, on the family farm.  

He was born July 28, 1935 in Greene County, IN to Earl Mattox and Ēvelyn (Edmonson) Mattox.

Bill married Bonnie M. (Jones) Mattox on October 25, 1958 and she passed away on August 20, 2007.

Survivors include his children, Katherine “Kathy” Collins (Hal Hall) of Jasonville, Steve (Amanda) Mattox of Jasonville, Bill (Missy) Mattox of Jasonville; grandchildren, Casey (Casey) Kennett, Kyle Collins (Sarah), Nicole Mattox, Megan Mattox, Danielle Mattox; great-grandchildren, Andrew Collins, Jaxson Kennett and Zak Stone, baby boy Kennett arriving in December; siblings, David Mattox of Jasonville, Joe Mattox of Loogootee; niece, Debbie Yeryar; nephews, Jim Mattox, Doug Mattox.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Betty Lou Mattox.

Bill was a Graduate of Coalmont High School Class of 1953. He was a farmer, truck driver, owned and operated Mattox Feed Mill, and had been a school bus driver for many years. He was a member of the Friendly Grove Baptist Church and was baptized in the Eel River. Bill enjoyed and supported 4-H for over 30 years. He enjoyed reading magazines such as Farm World and Reminisce. He was a cowboy at heart and loved his westerns. Bill enjoyed when he could hunt squirrels and rabbits and go fishing. Bill was an avid outdoorsman and a member of the NRA. He enjoyed farming and taking care of his family. Farming was his life. He was often seen out riding his 4-wheeler, checking everything on the farm.

Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, IN; coxfuneralhomejasonville.com. Visitation was scheduled from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. service time Thursday at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services were 11 a.m. Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the Cox Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Messmer officiating.

Interment was at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland, IN.
