MAX ARTHUR PUCKETT, 93, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away at 5:25 P.M. Friday, July 26, 2024 in Tidewell Hospice in Port Charlotte, FL.
He was born June 3, 1931 in Jasonville, IN to Walter Puckett and Stella (Sluder) Puckett.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Margaret “Margie’ (Wools) Puckett of Punta Gorda, FL who he married on November 27, 1955; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Inez Wier (Carl), Olive Scamihorn (Charles “Bud”), Wilma Woodall (Woody), Ivan “Rex” Puckett (Phyllis), Paul Puckett (Opal), Ronald Puckett, infant sister, Sarah Puckett.
Max graduated from Coalmont High School. He proudly served in the US Air Force for four years, where he made lifelong friends, and enjoyed reunions he attended. He worked at Diamond Chain, then retired from GM Allison Tansmission in Indianapolis, IN. Max attended New Life Church in Punta Gorda, FL. He enjoyed cars and was interested in new innovations. Being in the Air Force meant Max was knowledgeable about the different types of aircraft and their engines. Max was a fairly talented drawing artist but only for his personal enjoyment. He and Margie looked forward to vacationing in Florida, which is how they ended up moving to Punta Gorda.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation is scheduled from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at the Funeral Home. Services are immediately following at 1 P.M. with Pastor Dan Holtsclaw officiating.
Interment will be at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland, IN.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Max to St. Jude Children Research Hospital. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
