CORA LOU MCDONALD, 85, of Jasonville, Indiana passed away at 12:37 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2018 in St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis with her family present.  

She was born August 30, 1932 in Terre Haute, IN to George H. and Louise (Gemmecke) Lessmann, Jr.

Cora Lou married Arlen W. McDonald on October 3, 1953 and he passed away on October 16, 1999.

Survivors include her children, Arlen Dale (LuAnn) McDonald of Jasonville, Kathy Louise Samm of Baytown, TX, Kenneth E. (Carol) of Jasonville, Chris Duane (Betsy) McDonald of Shelburn; 13 grandchildren, Jeremy (Whitney) McDonald, Lee (Lacey) McDonald, Elle Riddle, Melissa McDonald, Elizabeth McDonald, Kambri (Brandon) Ellis, Tracey (Chris) White, Bryan (April) Samm, Michael (Dawn) Samm, Sarah McDonald, Stephen McDonald, Elesa McDonald, Christopher McDonald; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Velma Peterson of Shelburn; life-long friends, Charlotte Swigart of Sebring, FL and Shirley Roth of Bloomington; sister-in-law, Sondra McDonald Rogers; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 46 years; brother, Fred Lessmann; sister-in-law, Sharon Lessmann; brother-in-law, Fred Peterson.

In Cora Lou’s younger years she worked the family Grade-A Dairy Farm with 40 heads of Holsteins. She also enjoyed horseback riding. Cora Lou was a 64 year member of the Friendly Grove Baptist Church where she was active as a Sunday School Teacher and Church Treasurer. Cora Lou enjoyed crocheting and quilting.

Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, IN; coxfuneralhomejasonville.com. Visitation was scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services were 10 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2018 at the Cox Funeral Home with Pastor David Smith officiating.

Interment was at Friendly Grove Cemetery in Lewis, IN.

In lieu of flowers contributions were made in memory of Cora Lou to Friendly Grove Baptist Church. Envelopes were available at the funeral home.
