JAMES E. MCKEE, 90, of Jasonville, Indiana passed away at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, June 12, 2011 in his residence.
He was born April 20, 1921 in Midland, IN to Ralph Edward McKee and Velma Lenore (Fletcher) McKee.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Helen V. (Walters) McKee of Jasonville whom he married on September 2, 1947; daughter, Terrie Kay McKee and husband Bruce Crowe of St. Louis, MO; grandson, Lee Franklin & wife Janet McMullin of Cloverdale, IN; great-grandchild, Cassie Marie McMullin of Cloverdale, IN; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Geneieve Kafoure, Margaret Price, Ralph L. McKee, Cora Belle Krampe.
James was retired from the Allison (GM) Plant #5 in Indianapolis where he had worked as an electrician. He was a member of Prospect Masonic Lodge F&AM and Garfield Park Baptist Church both of Indianapolis. He was a U.S. Army Air Corp. Veteran. James served in an Air Offensive in Japan: China: Luzon: Western Pacific Theater. He served as Chief B17 Bomb Squadron Mechanic and was also a Rifle Marksman. He was a member of American Legion Post #172 in Jasonville, IN.
Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana with Visitation scheduled from 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday. A Masonic Memorial Service was also scheduled for Wednesday prior to funeral services at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at the Cox Funeral Home.
Interment was at the Lebanon Cemetery in Midland, IN with Military Graveside Rites.
At the family’s request contributions were made to the American Cancer Society, envelopes were available at the funeral home.
