MERLE McQUEARY, 95, of Jasonville, IN passed away at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, August 1, 2013 in Shakamak Good Samaritan Nursing Center, Jasonville, IN.
She was born July 23, 1918 in Jasonville, IN to Harry St. John and Della (Phipps) St. John.
Merle married Lewis McQueary on May 29, 1939 and he passed away on June 4, 1983.
Survivors include daughter & son-in-law, Martha & Jeffrey Griffith of Jasonville, IN; grandchildren, Nicole & Travis Walters and Tate Griffith & Jennifer Imber; great-grandchildren, Jake Walters and Hannah Walters; brother, Raymond & Sandy St. John of Montgomery, IN; sister, Eva Harvey of Jasonville, IN; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Blanche Moss, Norma Letsinger, Margaret Hastings, Clodene Bitz; brothers, Carl St. John, Glenn St. John; niece, Belinda Reedy.
Merle was a homemaker. She had worked during the war in Indianapolis at the Defense Plant. She was a member of the Jasonville First Baptist Church. She was a good seamstress, enjoyed fishing, and loved to cook and bake.
Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana with Visitation scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services were 2 p.m. Sunday, August 4, 2013 at the Cox Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Messmer officiating.
Interment was at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland, IN.
