WILLIAM D. “BILL” MICHAEL, 89, of Jasonville, Indiana passed away at 1:45 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2011 in Shakamak Good Samaritan Nursing Center, Jasonville, IN.
He was born December 2, 1922 in Jasonville, IN to William D. Michael and Sarah M. (Letsinger) Michael.
Survivors include his wife, Carol (Blagrave) Michael of Jasonville, IN whom he married on June 27, 1992; son & daughter-in-law, Lloyd & Peggy Michael of Economy, IN; daughter & son-in-law, Pamela & Ronald Jerrells of Jasonville, IN; grandchildren, Greg Haynes, McKenna Lynnzey, Trisha & Danny North, Eric & Jaclyn Terrell; great-grandchildren, Griffin Terrell, Olivia Terrell, Rykr Walker, Kyle North; step-children, Sherry & Anthony Grasso, Linda Blagrave, Kathy Blagrave, Lisa & Frank Pouliot; step-grandchildren, Michelle Bestedo, Michael Grasso, Anthony Grasso, Jr.; step great-grandchildren, Krysten & Madison Bestedo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ella Louise (Pierson) Michael who passed away May 1989; brother, Olin Michael; sisters, Eva Mitchell, Hester Roberts; step-daughter, Carol Lee Blagrave; grandchild, Daniel Michael Terrell.
Bill was a member of the Midland Class of 1940. He was a land agent for Peabody Coal Company, a farmer, Wright Township Trustee and Greene County Auditor. He was a Board Member of Metropolitan School District of Shakamak, Ellis Water Company, Lebanon Cemetery and Pace. He was a member of the Jasonville United Methodist Church where he served as a Sunday School Teacher and Youth Group Leader and the Jasonville Masonic Lodge #530 F&A.M. He was very involved in church, community local politics, loved sports, St. Louis Cardinals, watching his son play and coach sports, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities.
Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana with Visitation scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Monday with Masonic Memorial Service at 7 p.m. and Tuesday 9 a.m. until service time at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services were 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at the Cox Funeral Home with Pastor Marvin Cheek officiating.
Interment was at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland, IN.
Contributions were made in memory of Bill to the Jasonville United Methodist Church and Wright Township Volunteer Fire Dept. Envelopes were available at the funeral home.
