ROBERT LEE MOWERY died peacefully at Miller’s Merry Manor in Sullivan, IN on August 14th, 2015 at the age of 83.  Bob is survived by his wife, Ann (Cummings) Mowery; four children, Stephanie (Mike) Cooprider, Jamie Mowery, Michael (Cathy) Mowery & Eric (Barbara) Mowery; 9 grandchildren, Courtney (Josh) Schmidt, Ashley (Charles) Eaton, Tyler (Abbie) Cooprider, Jonathan (Kelsey) Dickinson, Rachel, Amanda, Luke & Elizabeth Mowery, & Kelsey Mowery; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Helen Keller, Don (Jeanie) Mowery, Jerry (Margaret) Mowery; and several nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Mary (Moulden) Mowery and his brother, Bill Mowery.

Bob was born on November 9th, 1931 in Jasonville, IN.  He graduated from Midland High School in 1949.  He was in the Navy from 1950-1953.  He married his wife Ann on December 17, 1955. He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Indiana State Teacher’s College.  He went on to teach biology in Bloomfield, Indianapolis and Los Angeles, California.  He completed his teaching career in the Panama Canal Zone from 1963-1987.  He was a high school guidance counselor for the majority of that time as well as a tennis coach and driving instructor.  He will be remembered for his smile and motivating words to his students.

During his retirement Bob drove a bus for Shakamak High School.  He was an avid bicyclist and was the oldest man to complete the Cover Indiana Bike Tour in support of Habitat for Humanity.  Bob and Ann enjoyed many years of traveling together and participated in the Mobile Missionary Assistance Program.

Bob was ordained as a Deacon of Coco Solo Community Church in Panama and was later a member of Lebanon Baptist Church in Midland, IN.

Bob loved his family and will be greatly missed by them as well as the many people whose lives he touched along the way.

Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation was scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services immediately followed visitation at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 16, 2015 at the Cox Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Rotman officiating.

Interment was at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland, IN.
