NORMA “KATE” KURZHAL, 84, passed away at 1:37 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2009 at Sullivan County Community Hospital in Sullivan, Indiana. She was born December 25, 1924 in Jasonville, IN to Clarence Thompson and Geraldine (McDonald)Thompson Hepler.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband, Herbert Calvin Pointer on September 5, 1967 whom she married on October 17, 1943; 2nd husband, Roy Kurzhal; brothers, Cloyse Hepler and Hugh Thompson.Survivors include daughters, Sheila Wilder of Jasonville, IN and Kathy Shaw of Terre Haute, IN; sister, Velma Brady of Indianapolis, IN; special sister-in-law, Mary Griffith of Jasonville; five grandchildren, eight great -grandchildren.

She was a homemaker & caregiver and attended the Shakamak Community Church. Norma was a wonderful mother and grandmother whose family was the center of her life.

Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Tuesday August 25 and 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday both at the Shakamak Community Church. Funeral Services were 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at the Shakamak Community Church on Hwy 48 West of Jasonville with Pastor Chris McKinney officiating. Interment was at the North Shore Memory Gardens, Inc. in Coloma, Michigan on Thursday. Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox-Ferguson-Lee Inc., Cox Chapel.
