NORMAN PILANT, 79, of Jasonville, IN passed away at 9:15 A.M. Thursday, September 19, 2024 with his family surrounded by him in his home in Jasonville, IN.
He was born August 12, 1945 in Sullivan, IN to David Pilant and Julia (Boes) Pilant.
Norman married Brenda Roderman on April 25, 1964.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Pilant of Jasonville, IN; children, Lisa Kirk of Jasonville, IN, Kimberly Kates (Bruce) of Wentzville, MO, Gwen Edmonson (Ronald) of Linton, IN, Arthur Pilant of Jasonville, IN; grandchildren, Stephanie Miller (Josh), James Kirk (Nicki Withycombe), Aaron Kates, Ethan Kates, Kasondra Adams (Kenny), Ron Edmonson, Oakley Pilant (Bryar Dollahan), Thomas Brinson, Hannah Brinson; great-grandchildren, Trinity Adams, Avory Adams, Gage Adams, Alaric Kirk, Ryan Kirk; brother, Bill Pilant (Robin) of Lewis, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Donna Weinbrecht.
Norman graduated from Coalmont High School. He worked many jobs throughout his life including working at McDonald Air Craft, drove the school bus for Shakamak for many years, farming, and being a printer at Bemis. He retired in 2012. He was known for his passion for cattle and had 2-3 rounds with longhorns in the field now. He loved his family and watching his grandkids grow. Norman had an affinity for gospel music and was known to listen to it all day. He was also a member of Friendly Grove Baptist Church for many years.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation is scheduled from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. Monday, September 23, 2024 at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services are Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at 11 A.M. at the Friendly Grove Baptist Church with Pastor David Smith officiating.
Interment will be at Friendly Grove Cemetery in Lewis, IN.
