PATSY “PAT” CHARLENE (CHAMBERS) TRIBBY, 87, of Jasonville, IN passed away on March 12, 2026. Pat was born May 17, 1938, to Charles Webster Chambers and Elizabeth Miller (Jones) Chambers at their home in the community of Jericho, Sullivan County, IN.

Pat met Donald E. Tribby in April of 1958, when she was with a group of friends and he threw a penny under their car and then asked them to move the car. The penny trick worked because they were engaged in June and married on August 22, 1958. In 1960, Pat and Don were blessed with their daughter Pamela Sue (Tribby) Burger, and in Pat’s words, “she was wonderful.” They both loved being parents and could not have been prouder of their daughter. Don passed away on November 27, 2004.

Pat graduated from Union High School in Dugger, IN in 1956. She attended Western Union School and worked in Gary, IN, and Jasper, IN; she worked at Peoples Trust from 1961 to 1971 and then at Peabody Coal from 1971 until her retirement in 1994. Pat was a member of Theta P Alpha Alumni, Association of Delta Theta Tau, Columbian Chapter 140 of the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Friends of the Library.

Pat was a faithful member of Lawton Street Christian Church. In good times and in struggles, Pat would cling to her favorite verse, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength” Philippians 4:13. Pat was always willing to help others and was kindhearted.

Pat’s mother was born in Scotland and Pat’s grandparents were Scottish. Pat was proud of her Scottish heritage and was blessed to have traveled to Scotland with her sister, Dorothy. She loved genealogy and was instrumental in starting the genealogy department at the Jasonville Library, where she would teach classes to people in the community.

If you ever talked to Pat, you would know that her family was the center of her life.
She was an amazing cook and was known for her ham loaf, cheesy potatoes, and any kind of pie. She loved attending her grandkids and great-grandkids athletic events. When her health no longer allowed her to attend in person, she took great pleasure in watching them online. She was their biggest cheerleader. Pat loved her family fiercely.

Pat is survived by her daughter, Pamela “Pam” (David) Burger; grandchildren, Jamie (Jeremiah) Faulk and Jeremy (Kali) Burger; great-grandchildren, Brylee Faulk, Brystol Faulk, Emerson Burger and Everett Burger– all of Jasonville, IN.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Donald E. Tribby; her parents- Charles and Elizabeth Chambers; sisters- Aretha (Gerald) Willis, Alice (Louie) Trzcinski, Dorothy (Earl) Robertson, Carolyn (Bud) Pearson and infant sister, Judith Ann Chambers.
