IRIS M. PHIPPS, 98, of Angier, North Carolina and formerly of Jasonville, Indiana passed at 2:05 a.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2018 in Raleigh, NC.  

She was born November 20, 1919 in Clay County, IN to Otis Stwalley and Iley (Chambers) Stwalley.

Survivors include her son, Wayne Phipps (Sharon) of Angier, NC; granddaughter, Kristi (Cale) Barnes of Angier, NC; great-grandchildren, Megan Barnes and Jacob Barnes.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ira A. Phipps who passed away July 23, 1993; siblings, Jessie Stwalley, Eleanor Ross, Helen Fletcher, Hester Ritter, Mary Belle Kittle, Charles Stwalley.

Iris was a homemaker. She was a member of the Friendly Grove Baptist Church.

Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, IN; coxfuneralhomejasonville.com. Visitation was scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services were 11 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Cox Funeral Home with Pastor David Smith officiating.

Interment was at Friendly Grove Cemetery in Lewis, IN.

Contributions were made in memory of Iris to Transitions Life Care Hospice; 200 Hospice Circle; Raleigh, NC 27607. Envelopes were available at the funeral home.
