PATRICIA A. “PATTY” POPE, 86, of Vincennes and formerly of Coalmont, Indiana passed away at 9:55 a.m. Sunday, January 11, 2015 in Emerald Place, Washington, IN.
She was born August 19, 1928 in Center Point, IN to John Tarquin Weatherwax and Pearl Ruth (Liechty) Weatherwax.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Keith H. Pope of Vincennes, IN whom she married on March 17, 1951; daughter & son-in-law, Kim & Bob Chafin of Vincennes, IN; son & daughter-in-law, Dr. Kirby & Kim Pope of Topeka, KS; grandchildren, Andrew & Beth Chafin, Adam & Stephanie Chafin, Nico Pope, Claire Pope, Emmalen Pope; great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Landon, Quinn, Emma, Carson, Gunnar, Zayne and Easton; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her brothers, John E. Weatherwax, Robert J. Weatherwax and her sister, Margaret Cadwell.
Patty was a graduate of Midland High School, Class of 1946. She had worked in the Indiana Bell Telephone Office in Jasonville, read water meters for several years for Ellis Water Company, and was an Avon Representative in the surrounding community. Her favorite job was being a homemaker. Keith & Patty were Pastors in the Dugger Baptist Church for many years. They were longtime members of the Lebanon Baptist Church and most recently attended Vincennes First Church of God where they were actively involved in the Senior Adults Group.
Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation was scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. service time Thursday at the Lebanon Baptist Church; ST RD 59 S; Midland, IN. Funeral Services were 1 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the Lebanon Baptist Church with Reverand Dr. Georg Karl and Pastor Fred Nocus officiating.
Interment was at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland, IN.
