GRETCHEN MAXINE PROSE, 95, of Jasonville, Indiana and formerly of Terre Haute passed away at 12:38 a.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2013 in Shakamak Good Samaritan Nursing Center of Jasonville, IN.
She was born April 19, 1918 in Terre Haute, IN to Charles Alford Arnold & Mae (Ballantine) Arnold.
Gretchen married John Oakley Prose on April 4, 1943 and he passed away on November 6, 1979.
Survivors include her nieces Lee Ann & Joe Don Wise of Coalmont, IN and Cheryl Faught of Jasonville, IN; cousins, Rosemary Crody and June Kendall of Jasonville, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, William Mitchell Arnold who died at the Bulge Crossing of the Rine.
Gretchen was a homemaker. She was a member of the Maple Grove Christian Church in Terre Haute, IN.
Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana with Visitation scheduled from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2013 at the Highland Lawn Cemetery Chapel in Terre Haute, IN. Funeral Services followed visitation at 10:30 a.m. with Bro. Mel Jackaway of Shakamak Community Church officiating.
