(RET) CHIEF MASTER SERGEANT DANNY RAY LEWIS, 75, of Jasonville, IN passed away at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2024 in his home in Jasonville, IN.

He was born March 29, 1949 in Terre Haute, IN to Price W. and Helen I. (Vencel) Lewis.

Survivors include his lifelong companion of 33 years, Ms. Bobbie Wilson of Jasonville, IN; children he raised, Ronald D. Hayne of Terre Haute, IN, Larry F. Wilson of Farmersburg, IN; granddaughter, Nevaeh Hayne of Jasonville, IN; sister, Debbie Miller (Ed) of Terre Haute; nieces, Andrea Hoopingarner (Joe), Crystal Brooks, Abra Lewis; nephew, Tom Blitz (Michelle) and 11 great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry W. Lewis (Linda).

Danny graduated Schulte High School Class of 1967. He graduated from the United States Community College of the Air Force in 1985 with an Associate’s Degree in Facility Management while studying at ISU majoring in Business. He was a member of ATΩ, Linton Elks Lodge #866, NGAS, EANGUS, Catholic Charities, DAV and Knights of Columbus. Danny enjoyed golfing with his military brothers.  He was a true outdoorsman.   He loved hunting, mowing grass, cutting down trees and clearing his land, and splitting and stacking wood near the fire pit. Danny kept a campfire burning 365 days a year, rain or shine.

Danny served 41 years, 8 months and 23 days until aging out of the Air Force/Indiana Air National Guard.  He served as NCOIC of Operations in the Civil Engineer Squadron. He was also a Civil Service Technician Facility Manager at the 181st Intelligence Wing. Through the years of deployments he built schools, drinking water systems, roads and airport runways and provided much humanitarian aid to several countries all across the world.

Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. In keeping with Danny’s wishes cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
