RICHARD “DICK” SWEET, 91, of Jasonville, IN passed away at 4:46 A.M. Thursday, November 5, 2020 in Shakamak Good Samaritan Center in Jasonville, IN.

He was born February 26, 1929 in Shelburn, IN to William Austin Sweet and Lettie (Hill) Sweet.

Dick married Glowdene (Pipes) Sweet July 2, 1952. She passed away on November 3, 2016.

Survivors include his children, Beth Sexton of Oakland City, IN, Pam Witt (Ed) of Jasonville, IN. Chip Sweet (Pam) of Jasonville, IN; grandchildren,  Jason Sexton (Alisha), Donna Beth Sexton, Austin Witt (Kristen), Anthony Witt (Amanda), Josh Sweet, Abby Morgan (Carter), Luke Sweet (Emily), Mariah Sweet; great-grandchildren, Gracen Brown, Gabriella Brown, Addisyn Sexton, Johnathan Sexton, Andrew Witt, Haley Witt; nieces, Billie Crow, Jeffri Gilman; nephew, Donald Osborne.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, siblings, Donna Osborne, Wendell and Bill Sweet.

Dick graduated Shelburn High School Class of 1947. He worked at Pfizer until retirement with 44 years of service. Dick was an avid hunter in his early years and enjoyed fishing and hunting mushrooms as well. He was an outstanding athlete and enjoyed playing ping-pong and pool. Dick was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in the Korean War. He was a charter member of Shakamak Community Church where he was very involved. Dick’s family wants to thank the Shakamak Good Samaritan Center staff for their loving and compassionate care while he was there.

Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 4 P.M. Sunday at Shakamak Community Church, 5730 W. St. Rd. 48, Jasonville, IN. Funeral Services are 4 P.M. Sunday, November 8, 2020 at the church with Pastor Ron Riggs officiating. Family requests that masks be worn if possible.

Interment will be at Westlawn Cemetery in Farmersburg, IN with Military Graveside Rites.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Dick to Shakamak Community Church or Shakamak Good Samaritan Center, 800 East Ohio St.. Jasonville, IN. Envelopes will be available at the church.
