Ronnie attended Jasonville High School and then served his country in the United States Army.  He was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne.  He worked for 20 years at J.I. Case in Terre Haute, IN.  After the unexpected closure of Case, he worked a variety of jobs.  He sold real estate for Newlin-Johnson and life insurance for Western-Southern, both in Terre Haute.  He worked in the mortgage lending business for 4 different companies, all in Terre Haute.  His last occupation upon retirement was as a security guard at Putnamville Correctional Facility.

Ronnie was a member of Lawton Street Christian Church in Jasonville.  He was previously a long-term member of Friendly Grove Baptist Church in Lewis, IN where he served in various roles over the years such as Adult Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and operated the sound board.  Ronnie and wife, Linda, served as Baptist Youth Fellowship (BYF) leaders for several years.  They not only helped lead young people to Christ, but they made it FUN!  They put so much time, attention, and love into the BYF.

Just about anyone who knew Ronnie knew he was a huge fan of Elvis Presley.  He attended several of his concerts and had just about all of Elvis’s albums.  He also loved to read, especially non-fiction, but his favorite book was The Holy Bible.  Up until the week prior to his death, he read at least two chapters every day.  In past years, he enjoyed researching the genealogy of both his family and his wife’s.  He spent many hours at genealogy libraries and courthouses to do the research required to compile huge books of his family’s lineage as well as Linda’s.  He printed many copies and distributed them to family members.  He loved photography and used to take photos all the time.  If he was at a gathering of any kind, he had his camera in hand.  He had many interests, but his favorite pastime, by far, was spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.  He was very active in the lives of his children and grandchildren spending countless hours at ball games, band and choir concerts, parades, etc.  Ronnie was best known for his sense of humor and his big friendly smile and demeanor.
