RUTH ANN (HARLAN) MARKLE, 88, of Linton passed away at 6:24 p.m. Friday December 11, 2020 at Providence Healthcare in West Terre Haute, IN.

She was born February 9, 1932 in Zanesville, OH to Howard Chandler Harlan Sr. and Gladys Marie Nelson Harlan.

Ruth married Max Ward Markle on August 10, 1963, he passed away on June 3, 2004.

Survivors include her sister in-law, Gloria Harlan of Hudson, FL; nieces and nephews, Howie Harlan (Trish) of Orange, CA, Pattie Parks (Rich) of Hudson, FL, Vikki McElhose (Wayne) of Spring Hill, FL, Holli Devon (Sonny) of Marina Del Ray, CA, Donnie Austin of Mundelein, IL, Martha Harlan of Chicago, IL; great-nieces and nephews, Julie O’Brien (Tim) of Chicago, IL, Shawn Harlan (Lynn) of Ladera Ranch, CA, Michael Sommer of Biloxi, MS; great-great-nieces and nephews, Maggie and Kaden O’Brien, Morgan, Nathan, Payton and Jordan Harlan; Special friends, Alberta Thomas, Phyllis English, Shannon, Dottie and Max Morrison.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Howard, Laurel and Michael Harlan, Burtis “Mutt” Harlan, Blackie Austin, nephew, Burt “B Ray” Harlan.

Ruth was a 50 plus year member of the Order of Eastern Star Unit 103, volunteered at Crockett Hospital in Lawrenceburg, TN. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church and was active as a Sunday school teacher and song leader for many years. Ruth truly never met a stranger; they were a friend as soon as she met them. She was a sweet, gentle spirit that loved her family and spending time with her grandson Max Morrison. Anyone that met Ruth would say that she was just a sweetheart.

Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation is scheduled from 10 A.M. to 12-Noon Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services are Noon Tuesday, December 15, 2020, with Pastor John Winders officiating. The family is requesting masks be worn by all those attending.

Interment will be at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland, IN.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Ruth to Providence Baptist Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
