RUTH E. (RUNYAN) DORMAN, 85, of Jasonville, IN passed away at 4 a.m. Sunday, March 8, 2026 in Majestic Care of Bloomington, IN. She was born March 19, 1940 in Kansas City, MO. She is the daughter of the late Edward and Mamie (Layman) Runyan of Hymera, IN.
Ruth married Hunter Lane Dorman on June 22, 1958. Ruth and Hunter lived in Jasonville, IN.
Ruth graduated from Hymera High School and Ivy Tech Community College where she earned her LPN degree. She had worked as an LPN at Sullivan Hospital and Glenburn Nursing Home. Ruth was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and nurse. Ruth was active in her church and in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved being around her family and her home was the gathering place for holidays and other family gatherings. Ruth enjoyed many interests including cross-stitching, gardening and collecting stamps and coins. She was also a published author and enjoyed learning to fly a small plane.
Ruth is survived by her children, Hunter Dorman II (Edilyn) of Bedford, IN, Pamela Wilson of Indianapolis, IN, James Dorman of Jasonville, IN, Daniel Dorman (Cheri) of Lexington, AL, Peggy Connaway (Larry) of Newburgh, IN, Elizabeth Dorman of Jasonville, IN; grandchildren, Mamie Rambsel (Jaime), Leslie Wilson, Joseph Dorman (Ashley), Nicholas Dorman (Kristi), Luke Dorman (Stephanie), Clayton Dorman, Joshua Dorman, Brandon Connaway, Samantha Hall (Geoffrey), Seth Connaway, Stephanie Story; great-grandchildren, 10 plus two on the way; several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded by her parents, siblings, husband and infant son, Joseph Dorman.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation is scheduled from 11:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m Friday, March 13, 2026 at the Funeral Home. Services are immediately following at 2:00 p.m.
Interment will be at K of P Cemetery in Hymera, IN.
