SAM IVAN WILSON JR., 61, of Lyons, IN passed away at 4:02 A.M. Friday, March 26, 2021 in Seton Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis, IN, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born February 20, 1960 in Linton, IN to Samuel I. Wilson Sr. and Samantha (Kincaid) Wilson.
Survivors include his former wife, Mary Wilson of Marco, IN; children, Michael Wilson (Maggie) of Lyons, IN, Melinda Wilson (Anthony Prouse) of Terre Haute, IN, William Wilson (Doretta Dossett) of Bicknell, IN; granddaughter, Elizabeth Dawn Prouse; siblings, Betty Powell (Gary) of Jasonville, IN, Terry Wilson of Worthington, IN, Judy Matteson (Mike) of Hymera, IN, Tim Wilson (Kelly) of Patricksburg, IN, Gene Dyer (Jennifer) of Kingsland, GA; brother in-law, James Orman of Spencer, IN; nieces and nephews, James, Christopher, Josh, Theresa, Kathy, Keith, Ellen, Samantha, Matthew, Makayla, Abigail, Brianna, Dwain; many friends, neighbors and adopted family will also miss Sam dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Wanda “Punky” Orman.
Sam attended Dugger Union schools before entering the workforce. He had many jobs through the years including farming and over the road truck driving. He enjoyed working with his hands, tinkering with lawn mowers, fishing and spending time with his family.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation is scheduled from Noon to 2 P.M. Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Private Funeral Services are 2 P.M. Tuesday, March 30, 2021 with Pastor Gerald Devore officiating.
Private burial will be at Winters Cemetery in Owen County, IN.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Sam to Cox Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
