SHIRLEY MAE SAPP, age 84, of Jasonville, Indiana passed away at 7:00 A.M. Thursday, April 9, 2020 at her residence.

She was born February 25, 1936 in Jasonville, Indiana to Lester “Tubby” D. Mitchell and Hazel (Gambill) Mitchell.

Shirley married William “Bill” Sapp on April 14, 1956, whom passed away on October 9, 2010.

Survivors include her children; Becky Hammond (Mike) of Jasonville, Danny Sapp (Sherry) of Jasonville, Connie Rash (Scott) of Coalmont, grandchildren; Byron Hammond (Emily), Hilary Fusco (Nick), Ashley Stout (Tom), Gentry Sapp, Jordan Rash (Chelsee), Alison Stewart (Aaron), Kade Sapp,  thirteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Barbara Scott of Dugger, Patsy Hill (Jerry) of Jasonville, Beverly Brashears of Linton,  Sharon West (Donnie) of McCordsville, Tom Mitchell (Sheila) of Riley, June Shacklett of Linton, Bob Mitchell (Jacki) of Jasonville, Jim Mitchell of Jasonville, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; William J. Sapp, stillborn son, brother Jerry Mitchell.

Shirley was a 1954 graduate of Midland High School. She worked for GE for several years, Zinc Flower Shop, Hall Mark store in Linton, and the shoe department at Wal-Mart.

Shirley enjoyed canning, knitting, and crocheting. She loved her flowers, sewing, being a farmer’s wife, raising cattle, and cooking big meals. She was the best farm hand.

Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation is scheduled from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2020 until service time 1:00 p.m. Monday at Cox Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Messmer officiating.

In compliance with State and County guidelines during this time, the services and burial for Shirley Mae Sapp will be private. Thank you for your cooperation.
