BRENT D. SIMPSON, 49, of Hymera, Indiana, went home to be with his Heavenly Father Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Sullivan County Community Hospital with pneumonia with his family by his side.
He was born May 16, 1962 in Sullivan, IN to William D. Simpson and Janice M. (Hall) Simpson.
Survivors include his parents, William & Jan Simpson of Hymera, IN; aunts & uncles, Pat & Forest Black of Highland, IN and Herbert & Frostie Hall of Brazil, IN; several cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Bryan Simpson; grandparents and several aunts & uncles.
Brent worked at the Lucky Dollar Grocery while in High School graduating from North Central High School Class of 1980. He worked at Browns Sporting Goods Store in the Mall at Merrillville while attending North Western University 2 years prior to entering the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed at Minot, ND where he obtained Security Clearance. After serving his country he went to work for Boing Aerospace in Everett, WA and worked on the Star Wars Program. Brent was a member of IBEW Local #553 at Research Triangle in Raleigh-Durham, NC, Hymera Masonic Lodge #588 F & AM and an honorary member of several other Masonic Lodges, The Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, Sullivan American Legion Post #139 where he served as a member of the Honor Guard, 40&8 VOITURE of Terre Haute and the NRA. Brent was an avid reader of the Bible and Civil War History.
Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana with Visitation scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a Masonic Memorial Service at 7:30 p.m. and Wednesday 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Funeral Services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the Cox Funeral Home with Pastor Olin Strader officiating. Interment was at K of P Cemetery in Hymera, IN with Military Graveside Rites.
In Lieu of flowers donations were made to the Disabled Veterans. Envelopes were available at the funeral home.
