WILLIAM D. “BILL” SIMPSON, 80, of Hymera, Indiana went home to be with his Heavenly Father at 1:59 a.m. Sunday, October 19, 2014 in Methodist Hospital Indianapolis, IN.

He was born February 18, 1934 in Jasonville, IN to Omer Simpson and Nellie (Risley) Simpson.

Survivors include his wife, Janice M. “Jan” (Hall) Simpson of Hymera, IN who he married on January 19, 1958; brothers-in-law & sister-in-law, Herb & Frostie Hall of Clay City, IN, Forrest Black of Highland, IN; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Bryan Simpson, Brent Simpson; 3 brothers; 2 sisters.

Bill was a retired Mill Operator at Alcan with 29 years of service. He was a linebacker on the High School Football Team in Jasonville. He had a scholarship to Iowa State but went into the U.S. Army instead where he served in the Korean War. God was the center of his life. He was an avid bible reader and supported Jewish Nation. He loved football and had worked at the North Central High School for 10 years where he helped coach the football team. He was a member of the Sullivan American Legion Post #139 and the Hymera Masonic Lodge #588.

Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation was scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Masonic Services at 7:30 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. until service time. Funeral Services were 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Cox Funeral Home with Pastor Olin Strader officiating.

Interment was at K of P Cemetery in Hymera, IN with Military Graveside Rites.

Contributions were made in memory of Bill to Disabled Veterans. Envelopes were available at the funeral home.
