CHARLES L. SMITH, 70, of Jasonville, Indiana passed away at 9:40 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2011 in Sullivan County Community Hospital, Sullivan, IN.
He was born February 14, 1941 in East Chicago, IN to Ivan Smith and Pauline Pearl (Price) Smith Flater.
Survivors include his spouse, Carolyn Sue (Bradbury) Smith of Jasonville, IN whom he married on May 15, 1990; daughters & sons-in-law, Amber & Charlie Gabbard of Terre Haute, IN, Dejah & Donald Darron of Jasonville, IN; son & daughter-in-law, Eric & Becky Smith of Portage, IN; 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was an over the road truck driver for Warner and was a welder for Peabody Coal Company.
Arrangements were entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Graveside Services were 1:00 p.m. at the Peavey Cemetery Tuesday, June 28, 2011 with Pastor Gerald DeVore officiating.
Interment was at the Peavey Cemetery in Howesville, IN.
In lieu of flowers contributions were made to the Lyon’s Indiana Senior Citizen’s Center. Envelopes were available at the funeral service.
